B i o g r a p h y

Dora is one of the pioneering Singaporean harpists to have pursued a music degree in London. She studied with Daphne Boden and Rachel Masters at the Royal College of Music (UK) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2016. Recently, she completed her Master of Music studies at the RCM, under the tutelage of Daphne Boden and Imogen Barford. While at college, Dora had opportunities to undertake projects featuring contemporary music. A recent performance include Boulez's Sur incises that is part of RCM's 'New Perspectives' concert series.

 

In addition to being a soloist, Dora also performs works for harp and flute as part of the Reiphos duo. The pair has won second prize in the Enkor International Music Competition in the Chamber Music category.

 

Since learning the harp at age 13, Dora has given solo, ensemble, chamber and orchestral performances around the world, including Singapore, France, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Some of the notable venues include the Esplanade, The Arts House, University Cultural Centre, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concert Hall, Singapore Arts Museum, the Shaw foundation Symphony Stage, National Concert Hall (Taiwan), the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall (UK) and the Britten Theatre in the Royal College of Music. She has also played in several harp festivals in Singapore as well as the Camac 40th anniversary celebrations in Théâtre Quartier Libre (France). 

 

Prior to her education in the UK, Dora was a student at Anglo-Chinese Junior College, where she was awarded the ‘Young Performer Award’ in 2011. She was given the opportunity to perform as a soloist in Mozart’s Concerto for flute and harp with the school’s string orchestra, and also at the biannual National Music Elective Programme concert ‘Snapshots’ organized by the Ministry of Education (Singapore) in 2011.

 

Dora has gained invaluable experience and coaching from playing in masterclasses from renowned harpists  Marisa Robles, Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Florence Sitruk, Catherine Michel, Sivan Magen, Sylvain Blassel, Gabriella Dull'Olio and Ann Yeung. 


Other passions:
Dora has a passion to mould her young students into well-rounded young adults. Besides being a harpist, Dora has had lessons on the piano, in which she has achieved a ABRSM Grade 8, organ and guzheng. She was a competitive swimmer in her schooldays, having represented PLMGS (Primary), MGS and ACJC in the National Schools Swimming Championships.
